CorreLog zDefender™ for z/OS provides out-of-box support for IBM’s new z/OS V2R3 and z14 mainframe, delivering z/OS security event messages to CorreLog SIEM Correlation Server or any other Windows- or UNIX-based SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) system in real time.
Naples, FL, September 27, 2017 – CorreLog, Inc., the leader in multi-platform IT security event log management, today announced that zDefender™ for z/OS comes pre-configured to support the new IBM® z/OS® V2R3 and z14 mainframe. According to IBM, z/OS V2R3 will provide enhancements in security and data protection, workflow simplification and usability, systems management, and other improvements, while the z14 mainframe boasts “pervasive encryption” with seven-times more cryptographic power than the z13 released in 2015, machine learning improvements, and open/connected cloud capabilities.
CorreLog zDefender™ for z/OS can be installed on a z14 LPAR (or multiple LPARs) to intercept security and operational events for user activity on z/OS R2V3 in real time, and forward these events for up-to-the-second threat detection and alerts in CorreLog SIEM Correlation Server or any other SIEM system. zDefender™ transmits data securely via TLS through the native z/OS encryption residing within z14. zDefender™ holds certified integrations with IBM, McAfee, Micro Focus, (EMC) RSA Security Analytics, and has field integrations with all other name-brand SIEMs including Splunk Enterprise. No special considerations are warranted for customers upgrading to IBM’s latest z/OS versions.
“Eighty percent of the world’s corporate data is on mainframes, and CorreLog’s mission is to extend the real-time security benefits of SIEM to the highly-coveted datasets in z/OS,” said George Faucher, CorreLog founder and CEO. “z14 and z/OS (V2R3) bring exciting improvements to the encryption and sheer processing power of mainframe, and zDefender™ can keep pace with the throughput they deliver.”
CorreLog zDefender™ for z/OS uses minimal system resources and can be installed in most datacenters in an hour. The agent-based software runs as a started task in an LPAR (or multiple LPARs), monitors z/OS event logs from mainframe facilities and subsystems in real time, and forwards the logs pre-formatted for correlation to any name-brand SIEM.
Support for Database Activity Monitoring
CorreLog’s database activity monitoring (DAM) solutions, dbDefender™ for DB2 and dbDefender™ for IMS, also support IBM’s new mainframe and z/OS, providing real-time monitoring for privileged user activity.
